Our production: teamwork, technology & pride

Our Tubtara® production department is running at full speed. It is a well-oiled machine, thanks in no small part to the dedication of our Technical Service team. Under the guidance of Sven Francken, hard work and good humour go hand in hand.

“In production it pays to be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades”, says Sven. “One day you’re fixing a major machine breakdown, the next you’re sorting out the soda dispenser in the cafeteria. With broad know-how and the right mindset, we always find a solution. And there’s no shortage of challenges: preventive maintenance on complex equipment, keeping our infrastructure up to date, improving energy efficiency, and contributing ideas for innovative automation. That’s exactly what makes the job exciting.”

Sven’s office is located right in the middle of the production hall. That keeps him close to both people and machines. “I’m constantly on the move throughout the day”, he explains. “That way, it never gets boring. And in the end, we’re all working towards the same goal: delivering a fantastic end product. That creates a positive atmosphere where everyone connects.”

Why production is HOT

Working in manufacturing means being at the source of something tangible: our Tubtara® blind rivet nuts. Every day, side by side with colleagues, we build quality products to be proud of. And that’s just one of the many reasons why a job in production is worth it:

  • Variety of roles and growth opportunities: from hands-on tasks to technical positions such as operator or planner, there’s plenty of potential.
  • Personal growth: our people bring out the best in themselves every day. Their experience and ideas take both the product and their own development to the next level.
  • Creativity & technological innovation: fresh ideas take shape here. Technological innovations are seen and applied first-hand.
  • Contribution to economy & society: we create products with countless applications, from automotive to beyond. That direct impact is rewarding.
  • Strong community & teamwork: when people work with heart and soul, great things happen. Like our top-quality blind rivet nuts – and a company culture where production teams truly feel at home.

Young talent on the floor

At Dejond Fastening, everyone gets the chance to show their talent, regardless of age. A great example is Matthias (21). This summer, he’s joining our marketing and communication team for a few days as a student worker.

Matthias recently graduated in Graphic and Digital Media, specializing in Motion Design. Over the past few years, he immersed himself in everything related to graphic design. With that knowledge, he helped fine-tune the latest version of the Tubtara® catalogue.

Matthias is no stranger to us. In 2024, he already assisted with document updates, and back in 2022, he spent a few weeks working in the Tubtara® production team alongside his dad Ivan, who has been with Dejond Fastening for many years. While production work was a valuable learning experience, Matthias feels more at home behind a computer.

“With my background and ambitions, I’ll most likely end up in an office environment, so it’s great to already get a feel for it here,” he says. “It’s also a nice environment with great people, which makes it even more enjoyable to take my first professional steps here.”

A strong woman among the machines

Among all the men in the Tubtara® production department, you’ll find Ashley. She started her journey in the Tubtara® factory back in May through a temporary contract, and she already feels completely at home. Her interim period is now over, and she has secured a permanent position.

“Before coming here, I already had a few years of experience as a machine operator. But beyond that, I’ve always had a strong interest in the world of machinery. That helps me pick things up quickly, and after just two months, I feel totally at ease here.”

“Being a woman in this field is indeed quite unique. But personally, I don’t see it as an issue. In my previous jobs – which were quite similar – I rarely, if ever, came across other women. Since that’s always been the norm for me, I’ve found it easy to find my place here. The team has welcomed me with open arms, and I’m definitely holding my own.”

Dejond Fastening waves goodbye to Paul Swaans

After more than 35 years of experience in the fastener business – almost 9 years of which at Dejond Fastening – sales engineer Paul Swaans is going into well-deserved retirement. He will say goodbye to his customers and colleagues at the end of May. Yet his career had looked almost entirely different. "I was initially not invited for a job interview", he says.

Paul Swaans began his career at a company that also specialized in fasteners. There he was employed for more than 25 years. "I really worked myself up there from order picker to shop manager”, Paul says. "But after some changes in the company, I decided to look for another job."

Spotted in our Tubtara® department

Meet Furkan Selek, machine operator and quality inspector. We actually first got to know him back in 2021, when he joined our company as a student worker. And as fate would have it, he recently came across a job opening and decided to take his shot.

“During my application process, I was given the opportunity to participate in a trial week, rotating across the shop floor and working with various machines. It was a unique and educational experience, and it gave me a real sense of what it's like to work here. You can probably guess the rest… I’ve found my place here. I’m now a proud member of the team and I see many opportunities ahead to continue growing and developing myself.”

Hard workers

They say “many hands make light work.” But what do you do when there’s a lot of work, and only a few hands to get it done? For Kian and Michael from the warehouse, the answer was simple: get as much done as possible with the four hands they had.

And it paid off. In just eight working days, they processed nearly as many orders as would usually be handled in 18 to 20 days with a full team. Despite the understaffing, both men kept giving it their all. The Aftersales team regularly offered to help, but each time they replied that they had things under control.

Not once did stress take over. Michael did mention some back pain – completely understandable considering the volume of orders handled in just one week. Of course, this kind of pace isn’t sustainable for weeks on end, but they proved they’re a highly efficient and dedicated team. Thankfully, the absent colleagues are now back on duty.

A colleague's testimonial

"Problem-solving thinking in design & production" – a major advantage for our customers according to Lukas Versteele. In December 2024, he joined Dejond Fastening as the new production manager within the Tubtara® division

What experience do you bring? "As a civil engineer-architect, I previously worked in aluminum production and in my own production-focused consultancy firm. I am familiar with the challenges of a modern manufacturing company. I am used to optimizing processes and products while considering aesthetics, cost, manufacturability, and other factors."

Why did you choose Dejond Fastening as your new employer? "Metal production suits me, and here I can combine the technical aspect with problem-solving thinking within a human-centered context. I appreciate that I have the opportunity to thoroughly get to know the company through different phases, so we can make more well-considered decisions in certain processes and further enhance the quality of our products."

How do you see the future? "I aim to help translate Dejond Fastening's vision into our production department. The question is not so much IF we can make something, but HOW we can make it so that customers receive exactly what they need. By thinking carefully from the design phase, execution becomes more efficient for our operators. Making everyone on the shop floor even prouder of what we achieve together – that’s what it’s all about."
